The past two weeks have passed by seemingly in the blink of an eye. We had the soft launch of our Bicycle Wrap Skirt on Kickstarter on May 25th, Memorial Day, around 8pm, and then officially launched the next afternoon on the 26th. In case you somehow missed it, here's the link. Our campaign runs until the 25th of June, but I was thrilled to reach our funding goal of $10,500 in just one week! Seriously, how great is that! No more nail biting, we're going to production this summer.
Since we hit our goal so quickly, we've set a new goal of $19,500. We'll be going to production regardless, but should we meet this new goal, we'll be able to begin work immediately on expanding the Bicycle Wrap Skirt into three new styles:
- a US grown cotton jersey skirt
- a heavier cool weather skirt
- and a bicycle-friendly dress
I've been getting lots of questions about skirt sizing and skirt lengths, so I've added some sizing information to the Kickstarter page. You can see a skirt length / waist measurement comparison at the top of this post. The tall length is 2" longer than the short. The short skirt measures, from the bottom of the waistband to the hem, 19" and the long, from the bottom of the waistband to the hem, 21". The waistband is 3.5" tall on both skirts and is designed to be worn above the hips. The skirt has been fit tested on models with waist measurements ranging from 23 - 37 inches and heights ranging from 5'2 to 6'1.
With this early success, we are able to move forward on some great new options, like expanding our sizing to cover girl's and plus sizes. If you happen to be at one end of the spectrum or the other in height or waist measurements, send me a message or email. Or if you have a daughter between the ages of 10 - 14, we would love to get some heights and waist measurements to make our sizing adjustments. We will be working with our production facility to grade a plus size version and a girl's size, hopefully before we go to production this summer. We're also looking into adding another natural dye color option, too. Exciting times!
Please, keep sharing our story with your friends and family, and thanks to all of you who are making this happen! And just think, if we get to $19,500, we'll be able to add even more style options!
